Renowned Australian percussionist for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Michael Askill has been recognized on a global level for his contributions to contemporary music.

As a founding member of Synergy Percussion and Southern Crossings, Askill has significantly influenced the percussion landscape in Australia. He has also served as a principal percussionist with prominent orchestras, including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

In addition to his performances, Askill's work extends to composing and collaborating on soundtracks. Alongside Nigel Westlake, he was nominated for the 1991 ARIA Award for Best Original Soundtrack, Cast, or Show Album for "Road to Xanadu - The Genius That Was China."
